SP saw what was coming, and thus created the DOM to "relativize" the GBC and (at least on paper) force them to accurately represent His Vani, rather than making up "laws" and "orders" of their own that were not referenced to a deep study of His teachings.
So, the conspiracy began before 1970. The Gaudiya Matha promised Brahmananda that he would be named "Acharya" if he broadcast the heresy that "SP is GOD!". He and three others tried for it, and ultimately failed.
Kirtanananda had already tried to take over the role of Acharya in 1977 when he told the devotees to cut off their Sikas and neckbeads and to dress in black capes.
In 1974, SP tried for the last time to prevent the "guru" disaster by writing a two paragraph letter (with two signed witnesses) marked "UTMOST URGENCY". Tamal had already been broadcasting that he thought that SP was "senile" (!), and the letter ORDERING the DOM to be added to all Iskcon Charters was COMPLETELY DISOBEYED.
When the 1972 UTMOST URGENCY" letter that was sent to all the temples and GBC commissioners, was completely rejected by the GBC and Temple Presidents and disobeyed, those who could "taste" the power of becoming a bogus :"guru" on their lips, realized that SP WOULD EVENTUALLY FIND A WAY TO PUT THE DOM INTO ISKCON LAW, WHICH WOULD MEAN THAT THEY COULD NEVER BECOME GURU "ON THE SAME LEVEL" AS SP!
So, they chose to poison HIm in order to prevent Him from somehow getting the DOM as the operating Consititution of Iskcon.
Why was this important enough to them to murder SP?
The DOM limits the GBC to three year terms. The GBC is elected from a slate of Temple presidents. Such elected "city counselmen" could hardly ELECT THEMSELVES AS "guru's" AND CLAIM TO BE ON THE SAME LEVEL AS SP!
The GBC plan to fool the mass of devotees into thinking that SP had chosen them as "succesor gurus" could only succeed if they could dupe the TP's and rank and file devotees that THEY WERE APPOINTED FOR "LIFE" and that they had now been granted "ABSOLLUTE AUTHORITY" by SP.
With that hoax of "absolute authority" planted in the minds of the TP's and rank and file devotees, THEY COULD THEN DECLARE THEMSELFES "succesor gurus" AND NO ONE WOULD FIND IT AMISS!
That is how important the DOM had become to the GBC! They murdered SP simply to prevent the TP's and rank and file devotees from ever even SEEING the DOM. (It was not publicly available on the Veda Base until 1992).
SO THE DOM IS ACTUALLY THE BIGGEST "DEAL" TO EXPOSE THE INCREDIBLE CRIME OF THE "gbc" TAKEOVER OF ISKCON FOLLOWED BY THE FOUL MURDER OF SP!
